True Masters of the Craft

S.M Bespoke is the product of Akith Dissanayake and Charlotte Jensen's enduring passion for handcraft and artistic expression. We are an independent company that is committed to traditional tailoring practices, which transcends our custom garments and influence everything that we do.

We value quality, timeless styles, natural materials, inclusivity, and a sustainable approach to fashion.By creating bespoke designs, we take part in a kind of fashion that builds connections between people, rather than just encouraging consumption and throw-away culture.

We approach clothing through a mindset of using the best raw materials available, attention to detail and achieving the perfect garment through processes of fittings and discussions about design.

All our custom suits are made with traditional handwork combined with modern style – slimmer shoulder padding and a more pronounced waist – to create a look that balances contemporary and timeless.

Burgundy men's custom suit and women's tweed blazer.

At S.M Bespoke we don’t sacrifice quality & style for Ethics

We are a local, Edmonton business that aims to provide luxury garments with a radically transparent supply chain and a sustainably and ethical approach to clothing. Read more about our environmental, social, and economic considerations below.

  • We approach tailoring with a fundamental desire to protect our natural world. We understand that sustainability and consumption do not go easily hand in hand, but our design and construction process allows us to challenge ourselves to work hard to achieve the most sustainable processes we can.

    • We work only with natural fibers and materials to lower the risk of micro-plastics polluting waterways.

    • We are working on becoming zero waste and currently waste as little material as possible in our garments and in our shipments.

    • We are carbon offsetting our emissions caused by logistics and international shipping by donating to environmental charities biannually.

  • It is impossible to separate conscious design from conscious production, and this is where our consideration for human lives and conditions come into play. Millions of people are still forced into low paid labor under horrible conditions and this has no place with S.M Bespoke.

    • We have fair and transparent working conditions in our workshop in China.

    • We provide our tailors adequate time and resources to complete each garment by hand.

    • We provide training and a career path for our employees.

  • At S.M Bespoke, we have nothing to hide along our supply chain. We co-own our workshop in China and we have personal relationships with our fabric providers.

    • We have no stock and only work on a made-to-order basis. Made-to-order is the most responsible type of manufacturing.

    • We believe that cost and quality should correlate and all our garments have upwards of 25 years of longevity with timeless styles and quality materials.

    • We consciously resist short term trends.

    • We work with some recycled/up-cycled materials and want to increase our efforts in this area more.
